Fardine Hamidi: Free-lance translator & copyeditor
With over 20 years of experience, I provide accurate translations of Farsi texts to clear and concise English while maintaining the integrity of the original copy.
I Translate Farsi texts into English on a variety of subjects, including but not limited to social, political, and economic issues, and have a proven record as a copywriter, copy editor, and media analyst.
During my employment with BBC Monitoring, a division of the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC), from 1999 to 2011, I was responsible for developing content and the day-to-day editorial output of several high priority language teams and coverage areas.
I have extensive experience in quality control of the editorial production and delivering high-quality content to stakeholders and customers, which required working under pressure and meeting deadlines.
The invaluable experience of running complex international operations enabled me to hone my communication skills, develop a higher cultural sensitivity, and helped me to gain greater insight into working practices in various countries around the globe.
I attended many editorial workshops, courses, and seminars during my 12 years with BBC Monitoring, including copywriting, copy editing, online news writing, press reviews, media digest, and strategic analysis.
Confluence of cultures
I was born in Tehran, Iran. I moved to the United States after finishing high school to pursue my university studies. After graduating from Indiana State University, I moved to Chicago, where I developed a great interest in global politics, economy, and current affairs. My initial interest in international relations gradually led me to pursue a career as a translator, copywriter, and editor.
I’m an avid hiker and have explored vast areas of the English countryside, Welsh hills and Scottish Highlands and the French Alps and Mount Kilimanjaro in Africa. I still pursue my old passion for drawing and painting and developing my skill as a street photographer.
